The longest fall of the altcoins
At the launch of the alt's market, there were few altos, and during the diapers, they slightly lowered the Bitcoin supremacy. Dispersing Bitcoin's dominance is getting harder and requires more time.
It has been 536 days since the last alt's season (December 2017). This is the longest period of stagnation in market history. The second period like that took only 385 days in 2015-2016. Why did it take so long this time?
Let's look at the chart that shows the dominance of Bitcoin's capitalization over the altcoins. The sections of alt's seasons, during which the BTC dominance is declining, are highlighted in grey. The history has been going on since 2013 because only then did the alt's market begin to form. At the very beginning of the alt's market, there were few altos, and during the diapers, they slightly lowered the Bitcoin dominance.
Since 2017, the ICO bubble has been inflated and thousands of new wrappers have been born. From now on, the alt's seasons have very much lowered the dominance of the BTC, and each time it will be more noticeable. Major players have to adjust to this situation. We are talking about it tomorrow.
Bitcoin should always take the lead. Before the alt's season, it is necessary to speed up the capitalization of Bitcoin to high levels in advance. This will create space for further growth of large coins. If the whales had not adhered to this practice, then some Airwaves or Ripple could have overtaken the capitalization of BTC for a long time already and taken its first place.
Replacing Bitcoin as a leader is definitely not necessary for the key players who move this market and hold than half of all available BTC in their hands more. These people are interested in keeping the status of Digital Gold for Bitcoin and are unlikely to change their strategy soon.
The number of altcoins is only growing every year. Dispersing Bitcoin's dominance is getting harder and requires more time. That's why we haven't seen the long-awaited alt's season for so long. Yet, we can say certainly that this moment is getting closer and closer.
